Rest In Peace Table: The Piece That Started It All
Every atelier has a first piece, the one made before there was a brand
name for it, back when it was just an idea that would not leave us
alone. For Maison Caligari, that piece is the Rest In Peace Table.
It is, quite simply, a coffin. A coffee table built from carefully finished
metal, shaped with the same tapered silhouette you would expect to
find in a candlelit crypt, except here it lives in your living room,
holding your coffee cups instead of anything more permanent.
What makes it more than a novelty is the glass top. Lift your gaze
past the reflection and you are looking straight down into the
“casket”: an open display space you fill entirely on your own terms.
Dried roses, obsidian, tarot cards, old rings, candle stubs, whatever
belongs to your own private mythology. No two Rest In Peace Tables
end up styled the same way twice, which is exactly the point.
It reads as gothic furniture without shouting about it: dark,
architectural, quietly theatrical, and completely at home next to a
regular sofa. That balance, drama without costume, is what we now try
to bring to every piece in the collection.
The Rest In Peace Table is available to order directly, or as a
custom commission in your own finish and dimensions.
